1988 Porsche 911 Track Car in San Francisco Bay Area
The project began with a vision from a Bay Area owner who wanted something more than a restored classic—he wanted a machine that could bridge eras
Starting with a vintage Porsche 911, the build evolved into a high-output performance hybrid that respected its analog roots while embracing modern capability. At its core sits a meticulously crafted Rothsport engine from Rothsport Road and Race outside of Portland, Oregon, paired with a G50 manual transmission conversion that preserves the tactile engagement purists demand. The car’s lightweight fiberglass body sharpens its edge, while suspension and brake components from Elephant Racing transforms the chassis into something precise, responsive, and ready for serious driving.
What truly defines the car, however, is the integration of the Vonnen Shadow Drive system. Rather than overpowering the platform, it works in harmony with it—adding 150 horsepower through a seamless electric assist that enhances acceleration without interrupting the raw mechanical feel. The result is an exceptional power-to-weight ratio, where every input is met with immediate response and a torque-filled powerband, blending old-school character with a new kind of 21st century performance.
